What is grace?

Here is the Greek definition of grace thanks to the Blue Letter Bible:

• grace

  • that which affords joy, pleasure, delight, sweetness, charm, loveliness: grace of speech

• good will, loving-kindness, favour

  • of the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues

• what is due to grace

  • the spiritual condition of one governed by the power of divine grace

  • the token or proof of grace, benefit

    • a gift of grace

    • benefit, bounty

• thanks, (for benefits, services, favours), recompense, reward

Today, May 17th, there is prayer in Washington D.C. for our country! Lord Jesus, thank you for this very special day!

LET’S GO JESUS!!!!

How to pray?!

However the Lord leads, pray! I know sometimes it can get a little crowded in our brain and we may not know what to intercede for, I get that. About a year ago I made this acronym, maybe it will help you!

America 🇺🇸

A = All leadership

M = Maturity (For leadership, government, etc.)

E = Education (That America would be educated on Jesus, the Messiah, the Savior. Education in general. I always throw in the end times too, those who know me, you know how I feel about that subject!)

R = Repentance (That America would repent for her sins and turn back to Jesus. Pray that the Lord will forgive America for the ungodly things we have partaken in.)

I = Identity (That America’s identity would be in Jesus Christ.)

C = Comfort (That Jesus’s comfort and care would be so present on America.)

A = All other things (Then pray however the Lord leads. Against sex trafficking, homelessness, life for babies in the womb, for Donald Trump, our government, etc.)

2 Chronicles 7:14

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Anxiety overtaking.
Stress overwhelming.
Anger arising.
Offense brewing.
Depression overshadowing.
Addiction gripping.
Self-critic capturing.
Shame and guilt empowering.

Dad’s in jail again. I am barely getting by in school. Hardly any money to pay rent. Family conflict is at a high. Parenting skills at a low. Just received a horrible health diagnosis. Sister passed away. I need a job. I’m pregnant. I don’t even know if I want to live anymore.

I have no idea what I am going to do.

These are just a few different emotions, thoughts, and situations that some of you, including me, have or are going through. And indeed, we may not know what to do. I wish someone would have told me, when I was going through some of the above, that I could go into the Secret Place and talk to Jesus about these things. Not only would I have wanted someone to tell me I could go to Jesus about the things just listed, but also that if I did, Jesus would guide, speak to, and protect me in the midst of these things.

Last month I wrote about the Secret Place, and if you missed the article, no worries, I will catch you up to speed. The Secret Place is partially your one-on-one time with Jesus, with your Bible and perhaps journal out, and at a much deeper level, it is a life that remains in the hiddenness of the Lord. It means you dwell, abide, and stay in all of Jesus’s promises, truths, direction, and love for you—no matter what. You talk to Him at your inner core, and you do not stop.

The Secret Place, which is talked about in Psalm 91, will change everything. We first want a relationship with Jesus. To have a relationship with Him means you have acknowledged you are a sinner (we all have sinned), ask Jesus for forgiveness of your sin, and believe Jesus died on the cross for that sin and that God raised Jesus from the dead. It is also believing that Jesus is Lord, meaning He is God. After you have believed and confessed the things just shared, you invite Jesus into your heart, into your life. You talk to Him like a friend, and you do not stop.

When you start talking to Jesus, you have entered into the Secret Place. After you enter the Secret Place, then you want to stay there as you share with the Lord everything, and I mean everything, that is going on in your heart and life. He will indeed guide, speak to, and protect you.

How will He guide and speak to you? He will guide you by the Word of God, the Bible. Being in the Word of God is imperative (see Joshua 1:8). This is the number one way the Lord will teach and lead you. When Jesus speaks, He will speak with the tone and gesture of the fruit of the Spirit. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering [patience], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control” (Galatians 5:22–23a).

How do we know the Lord will protect us? We know Jesus will protect us because that is what the Bible says, especially in Psalm 91. Did you know there are twenty-three benefits of dwelling in the Secret Place? If you feel led, I want you to find a Bible—a real, concrete Bible—and look up this psalm and study it carefully. In the NKJV it starts off in verse 1 by stating, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High . . .” It then goes on to list out those twenty-three benefits if you remain (stay) in the Secret Place. Here they are:

1.	You will abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2.	You will be delivered from the snare of the fowler (the bait-layer, this is the enemy). 
3.	You will be delivered from the perilous pestilence (epidemic disease/plague). 
4.	You will be covered with His feathers. 
5.	Under His wings you will have refuge.
6.	God’s truth will be your shield and buckler.
7.	You will not be afraid of terror by night.
8.	You will not be afraid of the arrow by day.
9.	You will not be afraid of the pestilence that walks in darkness.
10.	You will not be afraid of destruction at noonday. 
11.	Only with your eyes will you see the reward of the wicked.
12.	No evil will befall you. 
13.	No plague will come near your dwelling. 
14.	God will give His angels charge over you. 
15.	You will tread upon the lion and cobra (I see this as, you have authority)! 
16.	The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot (again, you have authority)! 
17.	You will be delivered.
18.	You will be set on high.
19.	God will answer you. 
20.	God will be with you in trouble. 
21.	You will be honored.
22.	God will give you a long life and satisfy you. 
23.	You will see God’s salvation. 

No matter what you are facing, the Lord is going to guide, speak to, and protect you; you just need to go running to Him. He can remove the grip of the bottle, heal the brokenness of your heart, and calm that anxious mind. He can give hope where it seems hopeless. You just need to enter into the Secret Place and stay there.

When life gets tough for me, and trust me, it can get very dark, I am reminded of Psalm 91. I will read this psalm over and over, out loud. Sometimes I am weeping as I do so, as depression is thick, anger is high, and shame is crippling. After I read the psalm, sometimes many, many times, those heavy emotions eventually lift.

Psalm 91 is a wonderful psalm to read in the midst of spiritual warfare, dark emotions, and hard life circumstances. This psalm reminds as well as declares that the Lord has you and will guide you, speak to you, and protect you. You are going to make it. You are going to make it. You are going to make it. You are more loved by the heavenly Father and Jesus than you will ever realize.

If you have not accepted Jesus into your life and would like to, you can read, believe, and confess the following prayer. If you struggle with being suicidal, no shame and you are not alone. At one time in my life, I did not want to live anymore. If you need to talk to someone, you can dial or text the suicide and crisis lifeline at 988. They are available 24/7. It’s legit, I tested it. Hello Everyone

Jon and I hope everyone is doing well! And if not . . . ohhhh, hang in there. Spiritual muscle is getting produced in you. You and Jesus got this. 🩶

Update

First off, speaking of updates, about 11 days ago I sent you all an update and I got my dates wrong. 🤦‍♀️ Following is a summary of that email and a few more updates.

📱Social Media: I took time off from social media for about a month and a half. I am now back on it. This will most likely be a routine for me, I will be on Substack and YouTube for months at a time to then take breaks periodically. Sometimes I just have to take a gentle step away . . . I wonder what Jesus’ social media life would have been like if He had it!? You should tell me in the comments what you think!

👩‍🏫Teachings: I taught A LOT in April. I was blessed to teach in two different countries (via video call) and to various kids and teens in our local town (in person). I am now taking a step back from teaching overseas so I can focus on the book. I will keep ministering to the kiddos though.

📖Book: I just sent the book to the editor for minor tweaks and then it will be off to the formatter! Talk about a PROJECT! I have been working on this puppy for a good 2 + years now!

🎇End Times: I will be gearing up to teach on the End Times this fall, that means starting to study now. You will most likely see me go live with this topic. No worries though if you miss the lives, I will send them out via email.

When I was eighteen years old and a senior in high school, I was committed to the hospital psych ward. I remember weeping on my bed back at home as I grabbed my hair and pulled on it as I cried out loud, “I want to die. I just want to die.” The emotional pain was ever so deep as past regrets, broken dreams, an unstable family life, and deep loneliness haunted me.

I walked into that hospital thinking, I don’t belong here, even though I was self-harming, had self-hatred, and was self-destructive. I did not have the words back then, but there was spiritual darkness that hovered over that place and I wanted nothing else than to get out of there. After my short yet dark, heavy, and scary stay at the hospital, I was on my way home on Highway 10 from St. Cloud to Little Falls, and I remember looking out the window and talking to God (Jesus). I was at ground zero, and I needed the Lord to come into my life fully; I needed Him to transform me. In a roundabout way, I said, “Jesus, if you really are that God that changes lives, you need to come into mine.” He did. Slowly but surely the Lord healed (and is healing) my heart, identity, trauma, and pain.

Months went by and I soon graduated from high school. I left for basic training with the Air National Guard and then started Crown college in 2003. I walked into that Christian college with very little knowledge of the Bible, but my heart knew the Lord.

A few weeks into college, my roommate said she was going to go do devotions. I didn’t know what she meant by that, so I asked her, “What are devotions?” She then went on to tell me it is when you spend time with God. I knew about spending time with God; I just didn’t know there was a name for it. Many people call their time with Jesus devotions (like my roommate did), or they might call it their quiet time; I call it the Secret Place.

Some of you may be in the same spot I was—you didn’t have the vocabulary of the Secret Place or, in my case back in college, the word devotions. Sometimes we know something, but we just don’t have the terminology for it, and that’s okay! Now you have a phrase—the Secret Place—for something you may have known about all along.

My Secret Place time in college started off with a lot of crying, questioning, and deep sorrow. When it was nice outside, I would go to this one oak tree on campus that had an opening in its trunk. I would pray my prayers on a piece of paper and hide the paper in the trunk of the tree. It always brought comfort when I did that. I was so broken in college, and I only truly felt like myself with Jesus and I guess you could say that old oak tree. My time with the Lord and the things I did with Him only flourished as I matured in my faith.

My Secret Place time grew from crying out to the Lord to paging through the Bible. Paging through the Bible led to reading the Bible. Reading the Bible developed to questioning things in the Bible. Questions brought me to studying the Bible. Studying the Bible grew to discovering revelation. Revelation resulted in me being consumed with the Lord. Being consumed with Jesus showed me all the different ways to spend time with God. Discovering the different ways to spend time with the Lord cultivated a life with Jesus. That cultivation taught me what the Secret Place was, at its depth.

Although part of the Secret Place is that “quiet time in the mornings with the Lord,” it is so much more than that. The Secret Place at its core is a life that remains in the hiddenness of Jesus. To remain in the Lord, you spend quality time with Him and you bring Him with you everywhere you go. To be hidden in Jesus means you are communing and tapping into His love and truth beyond anyone or anything else.

There are primarily two ways to spend time with God: tangible ways and nontangible ways. Tangible ways are more concrete methods to spend time with the Lord, which can consist of reading the Bible, studying the Bible (there is a difference), and journaling or saying prayers. These would also be good examples of how to spend quality time with the Lord. Then there will be nontangible ways to spend time with Jesus. These are less concrete forms of spending time with God, such as bringing Him with you as you are going to work, running errands, going to school, or just doing life.

The most significant part of spending time with Jesus as you do these tangible and nontangible things is conversing with Him. It’s connecting with Him. It’s talking to Him and having Him talk to you back. It’s an inner relationship that can manifest wherever, whenever, at any time of the day or night.

I once heard a pastor say to a group of people, “I want you all to say that you love Jesus out loud.” So the audience said out loud, “I love you, Jesus.” Then the pastor said, “Now I want you to say, ‘I love you, Jesus,’ but I want you to say it to yourself, in your inner core.” He gave some time for everyone to do this. After they said that they loved Jesus silently within themselves, he then responded, “That is the Secret Place.” What I imagine he meant by that remark was the inner dialogue they just had with the Lord (by saying they loved Jesus silently to themselves) was an example of what it means to enter into the Secret Place in their inner being.

My beloved, you can tap into the Secret Place at any time. You just need yourself, the Lord, and relationship. If you have a healthy relationship with your mom or dad, a stable walk with your siblings, and a good connection with a friend, what do you do with them all? You visit! You have fellowship! You share your heart and they share theirs.

Friends, that’s what we can and want to do with the Lord. We want conversation with Him in the inner depth of our being no matter where we are. As we do this, we are entering the Secret Place and under God Almighty’s wings. However, we do not just want to enter in; we want to stay there. If you have not yet started talking to Jesus, do it, then don’t stop. The Secret Place is the best place to be and next month I will elaborate with the benefits of dwelling there.

In this video I hit home on purpose. What if our main purpose in life was just to be loved by God and love Him back? Although I did not hit home on this very much in the video, loving others is key as well.

I highlighted Psalm 27:4 . . .

One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.

I tied in Revelation 2:1-7 and how we want to be aware not to leave our first love.

I also touched base on Hebrews 12:1 and how to release various weight and sin to run the race Jesus has for us by receiving His grace found in 1 Peter 5:13.

The poem . . .

Tears of paintings are where I started 

With tightly gripped abstract brushes that I wish could have departed 

And although I was creating, I had an absence of the Creator as I was escaping 

Art unraveled to sketches of trees that wept 

With sorrowful salty-held pencils, which crept 

And although cries to Him were in gear, I had no idea identity was so near 

I climbed the stairs to various designs of hopeful insight

With an array of grasped elements that brought me upright 

And although His voice was new, I had charismatic joy that made me attuned 

Next came along drawing the Scriptures

With colored pencils that helped expand the pictures

And although I just began learning, He opened my eyes to observing 

Sometimes words can be tough, so next I drew my feelings that can appear mixed up 

With both nondominant and dominant penned hands I asked 

And although at first, I had no clue, I had revelation that got brewed 

Presently, poetry penetrates 

With optimistic typed fingers that accelerate 

And although there is lack of comprehending, I am overshadowed by the best Poet who has unsearchable understanding 

My Poems

A little backdrop . . .

I am in the midst of editing Chapter 13 of my “to be book,” which is on Doing Art with Jesus. I felt a few of you would like this poem and various pictures of my art. This indeed is my “timeline” of art throughout the years.

Art has been ever so healing for me and I believe it can be healing for you too, regardless if you have ever picked up a paint brush before or not.

Update . . .

To be honest, it has been a pretty weary season for me. I have been doing a lot of art (mainly watercolor) and dabbling with poetry as I share my heat to Jesus. Sometimes life is hard . . . and that is okay. Jesus has us, He so has us.

For those who are on social media, I have been quiet and I will remain quiet most likely until my book goes to formatting. I just need to cancel the noise for a while. I might not be back until May.

You can do art with Jesus too . . .

I attached my chapter on art here, if you would like to try and do some art with the Lord. It is ever so healing. *The chapter is not formatted yet, so give me grace on the layout of it. Still needs to go to the editor one last time too.

I am still going to take some time off from social media, but felt a nudge to release this poem I wrote a couple of months ago . . .

I was in the middle of editing my book this afternoon and was looking through some old boxes to try and find a devotional I was referencing within my book. Never found the devotional, but what I did find were my old journals from high school.

Here is a little something I wrote, maybe my sophomore or junior year, that is in relation to the above poem.

there are two sides of him
one good 
one bad

its kinda like rain in a way 
we need rain to help things grow
to help me grow 

but too much rain is not good
rain can damage things 
damage me 

If anyone has parents that are alcoholics or were, I am so sorry. You are not alone. The Lord has re-parented me in so many ways and He can do the same for you. No matter if you are 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 . . . you will always be His little girl or son. Let the Lord father you, hold you, and keep you. He will heal you. 🩶

But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;

Hello Everyone

Happy Spring! 🌸🌼🌸

Update

It has been a very full last month for me (Ashley). The Lord has opened beautiful doors to minister to many children and teens! Many came to salvation in Jesus! I also got my book back from the editor and making final tweaks.

Jon continues to work hard for our family as a logistics planner for a trucking company and brings the Light wherever he goes!

Prayers

Jon’s Family - Continued prayer for Jon’s dad who was diagnosed with cancer and his mom who has dementia.

Jon - Strength and filling of his cup.

Ashley - I am teaching (video call) in two different countries this month. Please pray for a hedge of protection over me, my family, and as those I will be teaching. Pray for salvations, growth in the Lord, good internet connection, and smooth translations (I will have translators).

I will also be teaching Bible study to 4 different groups of kids, so please pray that I am spirit led and the kids grow in the Lord!

I am a little weary, so prayers for strength would be appreciated. 🩶

First off, thank you , , , , , and many others for tuning into my live video!

Overview . . .

I opened the live with a story from my “to be” book abut distractions around the Secret Place (Psalm 91:1). When I was reading I know I messed up a few times, but I just wanted to keep the flow! So if something did not make sense, that’s why! 🤪 We also talked about addiction. ♥️

We discussed the follow scriptures:

• Psalm 119:37

• Philippians 3:13 (and a little of 12)

• Nehemiah 8:10

• Isaiah 30:22 (as well as verses 18-21)

Spiritual Warfare . . .

We ended with a a little spiritual warfare as well. I am still learning about binding and loosing vs. commanding spirits to leave. As I learn more, I will teach more. You can check out ’s Substack where he covers more on this subject matter.

Ask the Lord for wisdom and discernment with this topic. If you have Jesus in your heart, you have the Holy Spirit. If you have the Holy Spirit, you have authority over the enemy!

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19

When you are doing spiritual warfare, it is VERY important that you fill yourself with Jesus’s truths, His word, praise/worship, and a life that is centered on Jesus. If you are praying for someone else, pray for Jesus to fill them with His truth!

“When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none. Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order. Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first. So also will it be with this evil generation.” Matthew 12:43-45

I ended up going live today on the “Timeline of Salvation” and then a couple people wanted to learn more about the End Times so I ended up teaching on Matthew 24 as well!

Salvation Summary - The beginning up to 11:00 minutes

End Times Teaching - Starts at 1 hour and 5 minutes 🤣

Salvation. . . .

God became a human being in the person of Jesus (John 1:1 and 1:14). Jesus is fully man and fully God who was sinless (Hebrews 4:15). Jesus came to earth to take the punishment for sin (2 Corinthians 5:21). Sin separates us from God because He is ever so holy (Habakkuk 1:13; Isaiah 59:2; Revelation 21:27). The punishment for sin is death (Romans 6:23), and that is exactly what Jesus did. He took your sin and my sin and literally died in our place (1 Peter 2:24). Jesus was the perfect sacrifice (1 Peter 1:19; Leviticus 22:20). Jesus’s death was accomplished on the cross; some translations will say on a tree (1 Peter 2:24). Jesus rose again in a resurrected body three days later (John 20; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4). If we accept this, we are not separated from God any longer. We are now holy in God’s sight and forgiven of our sin (Colossians 1:21–22).

Salvation timeline . . .

Here is a light timeline of the plan of salvation from the beginning of the world. This can be a great study to do in your Secret Place time. I do not go into depth with any of the following timeline nuggets; it’s just a framework of knowledge to point you in the direction of where more Scriptures are on this topic.

Read the verses below, dialogue with the Lord about them, and even do some studying on them as well. The following Scriptures and concepts are a pretty big bone to chew, but they are here for when you are ready to dig deeper into the topic of salvation.

1. At creation, even before there was sin, God had the plan of salvation! (Revelation 13:8)

2. Sin eventually came into the world by Adam and Eve (Genesis 3:1–19; Romans 5:12).

3. As time unfolded, God gave ways to have closeness and righteousness with Him until the ultimate Way, which would be Jesus. For the Jewish people, they had certain things in place to be aware of sin, to have forgiveness of sin, and to know the standards of what sin is or is not. This was shown and accomplished through following the Mosaic law (Exodus 20–40; Leviticus 1–7; 23. See also Leviticus 17:11; Hebrews 9:22). Even in the midst of the Mosaic law, one still needed faith in God to have a closeness and righteousness with Him (Romans 4; Hebrews 11; Genesis 15:6; Psalm 40:6). Animal sacrifice occurred to point to the one to come, Jesus, who would be the ultimate sacrifice for sins (Leviticus 4:1–3, 35b; Hebrews 9:18–22; 13:11–12). For the Gentiles (anyone that is not a Jew), they did not have to follow the Mosaic Law. Their closeness and righteousness came from faith in God and believing in the various things He would reveal to them (see Hebrews 11:31: Rahab was a Gentile woman, not Jewish).

4. Although Jesus was born in the New Testament, the Old Testament reveals Jesus and salvation. One way the Old Testament reveals Jesus and ultimate salvation is through prophecies. The first time we see a prophecy about Jesus is in Genesis 3:15. Some of my favorite prophecies of Jesus and salvation are in Isaiah 7:14; 9:6–7; 52:13–15; 53; and 61.

5. Then Jesus, the Savior, was born! (That is the true meaning of Christmas. See Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 1:21; Luke 2:11.)

6. Jesus taught, prayed, and healed. (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John wrote about this.) Jesus quoted the Old Testament a lot, and one of those times was in Luke 4:18–19 when He quoted Isaiah 61:1–2, which pointed (from my perspective) to Him being the Savior. In Luke 2:11, when Jesus was born, it was stated that He is the Savior of the world. Jesus said in Matthew 9:6 that He, the Son of Man, has power to forgive sins. In John 4:42 the people of Samaria said that Jesus was the Savior of the world. Jesus also stated that He came to save the lost in Luke 19:10.

7. Tradition holds the specific day Jesus was beaten and killed on the cross was a Friday. After He died, people put Him in a tomb (Matthew 26 and 27). According to Got Questions Ministries, there could be a chance that Jesus died on a Wednesday or Thursday.^[1]

8. If we follow tradition, the specific day Jesus rose from the dead was on a Sunday (three days later). Some women went to the tomb but noticed that Jesus was not there. Jesus, the Savior, had risen (Matthew 28)! The resurrection is crucial and proves that Jesus is indeed the Savior (Acts 13:34-39 and 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, 14,17).

9. Jesus presented Himself in His resurrected body to various people for the next forty days (Acts 1:3). We will get a resurrected body too (1 Corinthians 15:20, 51-52; 1 Corinthian 15; 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18).

10. Jesus was taken up and received by a cloud as He went to heaven (Acts 1:9). He is coming back on a cloud in the future (Acts 1:11; Matthew 24:30; Revelation 1:7; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17).

I know that was a lot of information to swallow—I am still digesting it! Take your time searching the Scriptures on the topic of salvation. Understanding the history and timeline of it is important. It is also significant to know how to share salvation with someone else. That is what we will dive into next.

A few years back, I was watching a typical ooey-gooey Hallmark film. These are not necessarily my go-to movies anymore, but back then, they were a nice way for me to decompress. It was late evening; Jon (my husband) was already in bed. There was your typical happy scene in the movie of a mother and daughter having a nice time together, where your average person, as they watch, would be smiling with feelings of rainbows and sprinkles inside them. I can’t quite remember what they were doing. Perhaps they were grabbing coffee together or were in the kitchen talking, but I started to cry. My eyes grew heavy, and I began,for just a little while, to long for things I never had. There’s no such thing as the perfect, white-picket-fence family that Hallmark might portray, but boy did I desire it.

Then a few years later, I was listening to Steffany Gretzinger (a worship singer) talk about her father, who is now in heaven, and the amazing man of God he was. As she shared some various ways he parented, tears began to well up and fall down my face. My insides grew a little weighty, and sadness filled my heart. At first I softly said to myself, “I missed out.”

Fast-forward a little bit more. Now, especially after long days of ministry, when I am drained from pouring out, oh, how I can still long to be taken care of, like a little child being embraced by their mom or dad. To have someone cook me a meal and simply take care of me—ah, would that be ever so nice. When those days come, I begin to have a silent cry in my heart, and I can still grieve what I lacked as a child, teenager, and even as a young adult.

When these situations happen, yes, my heart starts to pitter-patter with sorrow. However, then love rushes in, my chest grows wide, and I start to breathe hope, in and out. I know I have a Father in heaven who will parent me with His love and fill in the gaps. The absence of my parents at times, has only richened my relationship with the Father. I thought I missed out, but I only truly gained.

You see, if you are ever so willing, something special happens when you come to Jesus in pain or loneliness. The various holes and crevices of your childhood as well as adulthood can be filled with the heavenly Father’s love. Regardless of whether you have present parents or not, if they are stable or wobbly, kind or rude, when you run to the Father (and Jesus), He fills the gaps, He fills the pits, and He even fills the areas where the good parent falls short.

The Lord absolutely, one hundred percent loves you. I mean radical, bottomless, overflowing, and abundant love. Regardless of what you have done or are doing. That’s right, He loves you. Now, He may not like some of the actions we have done or are doing, but His love for us is present, more present than we could ever imagine.

We probably all have heard the famous verse, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” It then goes on to say, “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3:16–17).

Pay attention to the onset of the last verse I just shared: “God did not send His Son into the world to condemn.” Let that sink deep down in your inner being. Listen, my friends, we do not have a God who does tummy twisties and points the finger in our face. He is not a God with hands on His hips. Jesus, the Lord and Savior, He squats low and meets us where we are at, all with the heart posture of love.

His love is unlike anything you have ever tasted, and Scripture even says that His love passes knowledge (Ephesians 3:19). I could present a few more verses that directly declare about this love, but I want to share His unconditional love with you, through the Bible, in more of an abstract way.

God (Jesus) must represent the Scriptures. If He has called us to “do” or “speak” something that is in the Word of God, how much more will He? God is the author of the Scriptures; therefore, He has to represent the following truths.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” (Galatians 5:22–23). If we are called to carry the fruit of the Spirit, how much more does God (Jesus)? God is Love. God is Joy. God is Peace. God is Patience (longsuffering). God is Kindness. God is Goodness. God is Faithfulness. God is Gentleness. God is Self-Control.

“A friend loves at all times” (Proverbs 17:17a). How much more will Jesus love at all times?

“Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness” (Galatians 6:1a). God is the most spiritual being. How much more will He restore you with gentleness?

You are loved by our heavenly Father (and Jesus) more than you could even imagine. When I need a reminder of the Lord’s love for me, I will read over various verses that talk on His love over a cup of joe. The Word of God is truly alive and active, and as you absorb its truths, it will radically change you. Let the Lord parent you with His love; He really is a good Father.
