Whirlwind
A poem . . .
A recording
The day breaks with the familiar dark and bare
But she does not care
Little one leaps and dances with the flow of the wind
She resembles the solitude of a praying mantis
Off to the right, squats low, and swoops down
To take ahold of a petals stem
Then to the left and under the way
To grab some daisy wings
She skips and “la la’s” her way all around
A rainbow of parts now lays at her tips
“I’ll make a friend out of all of this”
Glues and tapes and cuts away
This piece here and that piece there
Tie a knot and pull a bow, done, let’s go
She doesn’t understand
Why does it not talk or breath, not even one little heartbeat
Let’s try this and let’s try that
Grass strings here and a feather up there
“Done, now this is the momma bear”
Motionless, speechless, emptiness remains
She responds, “you too?”
Little one releases her creation
Her shoulders sink and soul returns to the grave
She back troddens her way home with head down and the all accustomed salty cheeks
Then suddenly the Son is breaking through the whirlwind
The unfamiliar warmth grabs her gaze and speaks to her
She responds astonishingly, “I can feel You. I can hear You.”
The pitter patter of complete oneness makes her ask, “Who are You?”
Our Creator then responds with grace on His lips
All the things He is
And she is
In all the rest of her steps, skips, and swirls of her days
Scripture Inspiration: Luke 24:27, John 3:8, and Psalm 115 A few questions
Does the poem pull at your inner child? Does this writing relate to social media? Does this person relate to you in any other way?
Update
I will share more with the January’s newsletter that is coming soon. I can’t believe it is almost 2026. I know I have been saying this a lot lately, but it remains to be a heavy season. It is what it is. I have been getting into and remaining in the Word of God, which helps tremendously.
I miss communicating out on mainstream Substack, but this is just for a season.
Today I was reading Ezekiel 9-10 and this poem came to mind, so thought I would release it now. The Lord has been talking to me about idol worship, wow guys, it’s everywhere. I will share more as the Lord prompts.
You are loved! Blessings, Ashley

Actually I was in Ezekiel 8-10. It’s heavy… but wow. Ezekiel 8 hits home on the various idolatry taking place 🩶.
Ashley, dear. Oh how I would skip up to you on the playground and show you a cool rock I found. We'd swing for a while and look at clouds. I pray for you dear sister in Christ. Your heart is so precious
